  44.     Windows with the /S or /R switches. See your Windows Manual for

  54.     Your copy of our keno game for Windows may not be the latest
  55.     version    currently available. We are constantly updating, improving,

  65. INSTALLATION:
  66. =============
  67.     To install this game from the distribution diskette, simply 
  68.     copy the file "PCKENO.ZIP" to the desired directory ("\PCKENO" 
  69.     suggested) on your hard disk and unzip the file with the latest
  70.     version of PKUNZIP. 
  71.  
  72.     Next, run the program called KENOLOAD.EXE. This is a self-installing
  73.     packed file and running it will unpack and install all the needed 
  74.     files and programs. Once the self-install process is complete, the
  75.     files KENOLOAD.EXE and PCKENO.ZIP can be removed. However, you 
  76.     should always retain copies of these files on diskette or tape 
  77.     just in case you need to reinstall them in the future. 
  78.  
  79.     If a message appears asking you whether or not you wish to replace
  80.     an existing file in the PCKENO directory, answer with a "Y". DO
  81.     NOT USE    OLD FILES WITH A NEW VERSION - FATAL ERRORS WILL RESULT.

  83.     NOTE: After the installation process is complete, the install
  84.     program will try to run the game program automatically. This 
  85.     should be successful providing the install process was completed
  86.     and Windows could find a valid copy of the VBRUN300.DLL file in
  87.     the PCKENO directory or in the common WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory. 
  88.  
  89.     To start the game manually, run the file PCKENO.EXE from Windows
  90.     File Manager or click on the PCKENO icon installed into the GAMES
  91.     Program Group (or the program group you selected).
  92.  
  93.     NOTE: Be sure you are running Windows Version 3.1 or higher and you
  94.     are running Windows in "386 Enhanced Mode" (not Standard Mode). Check
  95.     your \WINDOWS directory    and see if you have a WIN.BAT file. 
  96.     Be sure the WIN.COM or WIN command in the batch file DOES NOT include
  97.     the /S switch. This causes Windows to start in Standard Mode. Be sure 
  98.     the command is followed by blanks or /E to insure you start in Enhanced
  99.     Mode. Otherwise, this game may not operate correctly. If you cannot see
  100.     the 386 Enhanced Program Item (icon = computer chip) on the Windows 
  101.     Control Panel, then you are not running Windows in the Enhanced Mode. 
  102.     Please see your Windows Users Manual for more information.
  103.  
  104.     Also, once you are running Windows in 386 Enhanced Mode, you should set
  105.     up as large a Permanent Swap File (not Temporary) as Windows will allow.
  106.     This allows Windows to use free disk space as computer memory and it will
  107.     allow you to run bigger programs. This is done from Windows Control Panel
  108.     with the 386 Enhanced Icon.
  109.  
  110.     This program was written in Visual Basic V3.0 and REQUIRES the Visual Basic
  111.     V 3.0 Runtime Library file called VBRUN300.DLL (included). Be sure
  112.     this file is located in the same directory where you loaded and unzipped
  113.     PCKENO.EXE.
  114.  
  115.     NOTE: Occasionally, Microsoft will release an updated VBRUN300.DLL file
  116.     which will correct some bugs in their runtime modules. You should 
  117.     periodically compare the date/time/size of this file to the latest
  118.     one available on CompuServe in the Microsoft MBASIC+ Forum. If a 
  119.     later one is released, please download it and place it in the 
  120.     PCKENO directory. This game will use it automatically from then on.
  121.  
  122. ERRORS AT STARTUP
  123. =================
  124.     If you encounter either of the following two errors at startup:
  125.  
  126.         1) "OVERFLOW"
  127.         2) "Invalid Control Index"
  128.  
  129.     then the startup files (PCKENO.DEF, PCKENO.Pxx, & PCKENO.SAV)
  130.     may be corrupted or may be the wrong version. Try renaming these
  131.     files to something else and restarting the program. The program
  132.     will then use its own internal game settings since it will not 
  133.     be able to find these files. 
  134.  
  135.     You should first try renaming the PCKENO.DEF and restarting the
  136.     game. 99% of the time this file is causing the problem.
  137.  
  138.     If you still have problems after trying this procedure, please contact
  139.     the Author by e-mail on Compuserve or by phone.

  141. Windows 95 Alert!
  142. =================
  143.     If you are using an S3 video board with Windows 95 and are running 
  144.     your computer with LARGE FONTS ON, you may experience strange problems 
  145.     with our games.    These problems will cause certain items on the screen
  146.     to NOT line up correctly. Change your system back to the normal SMALL 
  147.     FONTS mode.
  148.
